South Korean goverment announced supporting solar pv industry

Korean Knowledge Economy Ministry said that South Korean government

will scale up to 100 megawatts of solar energy equipment to support

the solar energy industry, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of

Korean energy field.

South Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy plans to create a

domestic market in the short term to improve the industry operating

rate. In order to ensure liquidity, the Korean government will build

the total size of up to 260 megawatts of solar power equipment in the

next three years. Meanwhile, the new renewable energy obligation

quota (RPS, Renewable Portfolio Standard) from 230 MW to adjust to

330 MW in 2013. New renewable energy obligation quota refers to the

energy supply unit must be the new renewable energy sources,

including the supply of a certain percentage.

   Chinese government is also preparing a long term supporting for

the expansion of solar energy projects, in order to reduce their

dependence on the international market to ease the pressure on the

survival of the photovoltaic enterprises.

   European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) expects Chinese

new PV installed capacity will reach 3GW-5 GW in 2012 and new

installed capacity will increase to 4.5GW-10GW in 2016, the

cumulative PV capacity total will reach 39.1GW.
